Fuelfed Spontaneous Combustion Surprise!

Fuelfed®

Fuelfed-Ferrari-250TR

We had our private member Spontaneous Combustion last night in Glencoe. Lots of great people and cars, but one stands out as the surprise classic. Yes it’s the mysterious Ferrari 250TR last spotted by Fuelfed member George K. being flat-bedded on the Kennedy last winter. No, it’s not a fake nor a kit car, but a real 1956 factory race 250 Testa Rossa with it’s tight V12.

Now for some ear porn.

Not to be over shadowed, the Gullwing and Batmobile held up the German glamour.

Hobbit and Oggiemog

Lucid Gypsy

The Lovely Lady down the corridor drove her gorgeous car in to work this week. Meet Oggiemog, a twenty six year old Morgan. Lovely Lady paid £12500 for her ten years ago and because she is a Morgan she’s still worth just as much!

I’m quite keen on the marque myself, I like them because there are limited numbers on the road. I like the idea of ordering something and having to wait years for it to be built, especially for you. If I had one I’d like it to be deep red, but my Hobbit fell for the British Racing Green one belonging to the Lovely Lady. Here he is dreaming of turning her engine on and cruising off to the wilderness.

He’s even wearing the Morgan cap, think it suits him?

By the way, when I asked Lovely Lady her car’s name she said it , IT! clearly it’s female…

This week finds us with a cute and happy faced Healey Sprite for sale out in Batavia, IL. This precursor to the MG Midget defines small, minimal and British fun. Heck, you just want to go up to it and give it a big hug. The orange crazed paint and center stripe aside, this is a classic that is sure to always bring a crowd wherever it’s parked.

The seller writes:

This Bug Eye is a blast to drive and always gives me thumbs up form the public. This car is not perfect. It is rust free with lots of upgrades. The motor is a 1098 cc with a upgraded weber sidedraft carb. The motor does leak oil and will needed to be freshened up. Transmission is a upgraded rib case that is a little noisy in first gear, but I do have a newly rebuilt…

Brass Horses in Seal Cove, Maine

Emily Carter ~ Nature as Art

IMG_1131

A hidden secret on Mount Desert Island in Maine is a fantastic antique auto museum that holds some of the most beautiful and artistic brass horses in automobile history. Instead of four legs, these four-wheeled vehicles are true works of art. With brilliant brass fixtures and elaborate passenger cabins, each one of these beauties have a story to tell.

Located on the “quiet” side of the island in Seal Cove is the Seal Cove Auto Museum that was created from the private collection of Richard C. Paine, Jr.  The collection contains over 100 Brass Era cars that were built in the early 1900’s.

Paine was a private man whose quiet demeanor was disarming as the collection he created is exceptional. After his passing in 2008, it was his instruction to auction a part of his collection to create a foundation to maintain the collection for all to enjoy. The results of…

Monie Blog

When Gus told me he was on the production team for a collector car auction I insisted he get me a ticket.  Seeing classic cars is like traveling back in time. I picture the families that use to own it, the conversations that took place, the adventures, the everyday moments like going to the grocery store. It takes me back to a time I only see in movies, a time when life was simple.

All the cars were so unique from each other with amazing details. I decided to photograph what makes each car special.

Decades later we call these cars a work of art.

When I saw this black Chevy I was taken back to my childhood. My dad use to have one and he loved it. I remember when a random man came to our door and offered him cash for it. I can recall the look of…

It’s Thursday evening at the courthouse square in Crown Point, Indiana, and the summer long classic car show has begun.  It starts at 4 p.m. and goes on all night.  The parking spaces around the square are filling up with Cougar, Chevrolet, Corvette, Mustang, and Roadster automobiles to name a few.  There are cars from the 1940s to muscle cars.  It’s a lot of fun.  The cars are in mint condition.

A hot road owner told me that there may be as many as 100 vintage cars filling the square.   They understand the attraction to the classic cars and they enjoy talking about the work they have put into them.

Drivers do a slow ride around the square to see the cars that are here tonight.  Some of the people, like me,  walk around the square to get a closer look.

Father’s Day is this Sunday.  If you are searching for a gift for dad…
