Carroll Shelby climbed out of his car a winner wearing the most interesting of race suits at a Fort Worth track in August 1953. Earlier that day, he’d been vaccinating his chickens in work overalls and there hadn’t been time to change. The trademark look continued to identify him as he evolved from chicken farmer to automotive designer.
